Our Day Respite Centres in Hobart & Legana operate under the Commonwealth HACC Program (Home and Community Care) and provide respite and activity programmes for clients in the local community, who are socially isolated. Our Hobart facility operates a specialist Dementia respite programme.
We provide a supportive secure, friendly environment. Our staff support clients to maintain their living skills, independence and rights. Clients have access to activities, gardens and outings of their choosing, and are encouraged to go for regular walks with staff. The daily programme is individualised and includes morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea. Activities offered are widely varied and can include cooking, mosaics and arts and crafts to gardening and holiday programs. Clients and family members can all have input into our programs and are encouraged to visit at any time when we are open.
Clients are encouraged to continue having access to other community groups.
We encourage indigenous clients as well as those from culturally diverse backgrounds, and an interpreter service is available if required.
Our staff can accept referrals from clients, family members, doctors, Health clinics, and other service providers or concerned friends and neighbours.
Referrals can be by phone, fax or email.
All Clients are assessed by a Nurse prior to being accepted into our service and we work closely with other Service Providers once a client is admitted to our care.
