Volunteering can be a wonderful way to fulfill a passion for an area of interest or discover a new way to be of service to your community. It is estimated that one in four people in Australia do some kind of volunteer work. They choose – of their own free will – to work without payment for the benefit of their community. They give a gift of their time to others.
We are very appreciative of our wonderful volunteers who come in and spend time with residents. Even the smallest amount of time offered is valuable and volunteers can be individuals, couples, friends or families and of any age.
There are no contracts, minimum duration or frequency and continuation is based on your desire to do so. Importantly our volunteers really enjoy the experience and find it very rewarding. In fact our golden rule is that you must have a great time! This is always helped if you participate in an activity that is related to a hobby or interest of yours but don’t worry; we have plenty of program ideas too!
We offer a range of opportunities to match your current skills and invite you to learn new skills that you, as a volunteer, can share and enjoy.
Our dedicated volunteers are integral to the delivery of our vision and as such our duty of care to you is paramount. Our Leisure and Lifestyle Mentors will ensure that you are supported and encouraged to become part of the Prescaretas family at one of our four facilities across Tasmania. Within each, we have an enthusiastic and growing band of volunteers. Please join us to care for our aged – a smile, a quiet chat, reading the daily papers or a wonderful day with crafts are just some of the ways you can enrich the life of another.
