Presbyterian Care Tasmania is excited to partner with the Launceston Christian School in a new Community Development initiative: the establishment of a Student Pastoral Care program within the school, with the aim of delivering positive activities–and life outcomes–for students facing disadvantage.
The new program began in Term 1, 2019, with the hiring of new Pastoral Care Worker, Ben (pictured above). Ben runs a Breakfast Club to help support and engage with kids who wouldn’t otherwise have access to a healthy breakfast before school, as well as working with students involved with the Outdoor Education courses.
The Launceston Christian School opened its doors on February 14, 1976. Over that time the needs of children and adolescents, navigating life in a more complex world have increased considerably. Our vision is that this new Pastoral Care Program can help change the aspirations and direction of those in our community who have to deal with disadvantage, and offer hope through this practical support.
