“We aim to provide high quality and distinctively Christian care to all those in the community who are most vulnerable and who would otherwise be isolated from support.”
For over 60 years Presbyterian Care Tasmania provided aged care services through nursing homes around the state, and many Tasmanians are familiar with us through this service.
In 2017 the Board of Presbyterian Care Tasmania Incorporated sold these aged care operations, and are now responsible for the investment, management and distribution of these funds, using the income from them to help support the work of other Tasmanian organisations with a mandate to support the vulnerable and disadvantaged in our state.
We are a Registered Charity with the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission with full Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR) status and Income Tax Exemption (ITE).
We aim to fulfil our mission of providing supportive services and care for individuals in need, regardless of creed, through the following means:
- providing direct services;
- supporting charitable and community organisations through partnerships, joint ventures and long-term relationships;
- by subcontracting arrangements;
- by providing financial assistance to organisations through grants, loans and ongoing funding supports with emphasis on new and emerging services.
We are here to support Tasmanians in need.
Our mission as a not for profit charitable organisation is to provide supportive services, care, and Christian kindness, for the Tasmanian community and individuals in need, regardless of their belief system.
We are unashamedly proud of our Christian heritage and our ethos of
“We Exist to Serve Christ In All We Do”.
Our vision as a Ministry of the Presbyterian Church of Tasmania is to:
“Enable individuals experiencing necessitous circumstances to access resources and supports, to have control over their lives, and live independently with dignity.”
We commit to the following values in all we do, and every program we undertake:
We will act with integrity in a way that shows we understand, speaks the truth in love and hold ourselves accountable to each other and openly acknowledge our Vision. (2 Cor 4:1-2)
We will show respect to our community (Mark 12:31)
We will show empathy as we serve (Galatians 6:2)
We will show Christ-like compassion to those in need (Col 3:12)
We will show commitment through remaining in and reaching out to our community by being attentive and responsive to its needs (Matthew 5:14)
