New Mornings Ministries, with the support of Presbyterian Care Tasmania, have conceived an innovative program with the support of the West Ulverstone Primary School titled: Supporting Wellness in Family Trauma or, simply, SWIFT.

This is an Adult, Children, Family and Youth Health initiative aimed at breaking the cycle of generational poverty, so that the primary school children have an opportunity to overcome their emotional, social, psychological and educational disadvantage.

New Mornings is a Christian, community based, not-for-profit, volunteer-run mental health support organisation, operating from Ulverstone.

Funding from Presbyterian Care Tasmania has enabled New Mornings Ministries to employ three new part-time staff: a Community Outreach Worker, a Mentoring co-ordinator, and a Volunteer liaison worker, as well as undertake additional volunteer training sessions, produce additional volunteer and mentor training resources, and acquire some much-needed additional computer resources.

We are excited to be a part of this new development in Ulverstone, and are looking forward to seeing the long-term results of this project in years to come.
